My folks met at Liberty High in Brentwood in the 60’s. My dad was drafted during the Vietnam War. When he returned, he asked my mom to marry him. They had their first child 3 years later and three years after that, they had us triplets. My dad worked for 42 years for the same company and my mom worked for about 25 years for her company. She was an administrative assistant. My dad was a cable splicer in the Army and for Pacific Bell (AT&T). My dad is now retired and my mom recently passed suddenly. Although my Mama did not die from COVID, she died because of Covid. She passed during lockdown. I attribute her death to Covid because she was afraid to seek help and refused to go to the hospital due to the lockdown. I miss her everyday. Our lives have drastically changed without her physical presence and now my sister and I are the matriarchal figures in our small, close knit family. If she was here I’d take her to a mountain and tell her all the things I didn’t get a chance to say. Tell people how you feel and what they mean to you before it’s too late. I’ve learned this the hard way.
